News about CU Regent Race

Hello supporters of Kristine For Regent,

When I was invited to run for CU Board of Regents, my husband and I considered the responsibility of becoming a CD3 candidate for Regent.  We also considered the many benefits to the students of CU and to the students and constituents of CD3.

My experience, expertise, and passion for Higher Education and advocating for conservative college students would be of great value.  I understand how to communicate within the CU environment and am absolutely certain that my voice would be heard; and consequently, your voice would be represented at the decision making table.

I am announcing that I am withdrawing my candidacy.  This decision has been very difficult to make.  As many of you know, I have had medical issues for a few months.  After more extensive testing, I find that I must submit to even more testing and surgery.  I am unable to engage in a strong campaign due to these medical issues.

I am heartbroken that I cannot continue and fulfill what would have been a very successful 6 year term on the University of Colorado Board of Regents.

The silver lining is that I’ve received so many blessings along the way.  I’ve been welcomed and backed by countless supporters and candidates.  I’ve made friends.  I’ve learned so much about politics; both the bright side that made us proud to be Americans and the dark side that shows its face when someone wants to win at all costs.  Voters deserve to choose their Regent based upon a candidate’s proven dedication to education and their qualifications in Higher Education and not because they are a political insider.  I know that because I’ve heard it from you.  I regret that I’m unable to continue to win this seat as your representative.

My deep gratitude to you for your grace and understanding.

This is all in God’s hands and I am certain that blessings will bestow us in spite of disappointments and hardships.

For your ongoing support for the Republicans of Colorado’s Third Congressional District, I thank you.  Your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed, although at times it may seem thankless.   The means are necessary to achieve the end; a free republic and a country we can be proud of as we pass it along to our children and grandchildren.

I’m so sorry that I cannot contribute in the way I’d hoped - but I will continue to fight the good fight.

Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your hard work and the investment of your time, your life, and your heart to preserve this great nation!

You all are the hope and the lifeblood of liberty!

 In Gratitude,

--

Delta County Republican Central Committee

Awards Scholarships to Delta County High School Students

This past year the Delta County Republican Central Committee approved awarding two $2,500 scholarships for attending college, junior college, trade or technical school.  This was a competitive process that was available to all high school graduates in Delta County that were registered to vote and had a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5.

The applicants were required to submit an essay of 1000 words or more on any of two amendments in the U.S. Bill of Rights and what those amendments meant to them.  They were also required to attend a minimum of five of the monthly Delta County Republican Central Committee meetings.  The purpose in designing the scholarship this way was to expose high school graduates to real grass root politics and encourage their future involvement in this important part of our constitutional republic form of government.  For our democratic republic to function, all citizens need to be involved.

This is a fairly rigorous application.  The applicants were required to submit an essay of 1000 words or more on any two amendments in the United States Bill of Rights and what those amendments meant to them.  They were also required to attend a minimum of five of our Delta County Republican events such as our monthly meetings, the precinct caucuses, the county assembly or our Youth Outreach events.  Our purpose in designing our scholarship this way is to expose our high school graduates to real grass root politics and encourage their future involvement in this important part of our constitutional republic form of government.  For our democratic republic to function all citizens need to be involved.

We had a four-person Scholarship Committee review the applications.  Seven applicants completed the process and they were truly an outstanding group.  It was an incredible challenge to select our recipients! Because we had such an outstanding group of applicants, the Committee raised an additional $2,500 and we are proud to announce that we are awarding three $2,500 scholarships to Delta County High School graduates.  We awarded scholarships to Isamera Lindberg of North Fork High School, Christopher Hathaway and Hayden Rupp of Cedaredge High School.

Isa wrote her essay on the 1st and the 4th Amendments in the Bill of Rights.  She attended three monthly meetings, and participated in three Right Roots Youth Events.  Christopher wrote his essay on the 4th and 8th Amendments in the Bill of Rights.  He attended three of our monthly meetings, and participated in caucus training and participated in his precinct caucus.  Hayden wrote his essay on the 1st and 2nd Amendments and participated in 8 events, including 4 monthly meetings, caucus training and participated in his precinct caucus and two Youth Outreach events.  We believe these outstanding young people received a good introduction to the American political process.

The Delta County Republicans thank Isa, Christopher, Hayden and the other applicants for participating in our scholarship program.  We are proud of all 7 applicants, and we wish them all future success.
